ACEVO – The Association for Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations aims to improve standards of senior management in the third sector and in particular improve development opportunities for chief executives. See

ASA – Advertising Standards Association, the self- regulatory body that aims to ensure all advertising is Legal, Decent, Honest and Truthful. Advertisers agree to abide by a voluntary code of practice and be bound by the ASA’s decisions – see

CAF – Charities Aid Foundation the organisation working to help fund charities by offering banking, investment and other financial services including tax efficient giving. The emphasis is on donors and offering help for potential donors to give tax effectively in the ways they wish to adopt. See

CIM – Chartered Institute of Marketing. The professional membership organisation for marketeers and marketing students. Source of excellent publications, training and research. CIM is the largest and most prestigious marketing association in the world and is the officially appointed body for setting the standards for sales and marketing professional development in the UK. The organisation is committed to delivering world-class support to equip marketeers with the knowledge and tools they need to stay ahead and excel in this challenging profession. See

DSC – Directory of Social Change is an independent source of information and support to voluntary and community sectors worldwide. See the books page and

Fundraising UK – Internet site and organisation run by Howard Lake providing free news and information site for fundraisers working in the voluntary sector. As such it offers fundraisers and marketing professionals an extremely valuable information and research resource. See

IoF – The Institute of Fundraising is the fundraiser’s membership association with mandatory codes of practice for members. See:

NCVO – National Council of Voluntary Organisations is the campaigning umbrella organisation for the voluntary sector. A member organisation it offers publications, research and training. See

RSA – Royal Society of Arts exists for the encouragement of the Arts, Manufacturing and Commerce. The RSA is a charity which encourages the development of a principled, prosperous society and the release of human potential. With excellent London based facilities the organisation is membership based. See

Westburn – are publishers of a number of marketing publications and have a very useful free online search facility for their Marketing Dictionary and also for published articles around marketing issues. It is therefore a valuable glossary of marketing terminology and jargon. See

VSSN – The Voluntary Sector Studies Network (VSSN) promotes understanding of the UK voluntary sector through research and provides a voice and a meeting place for voluntary sector researchers in the UK.
